Salora International Ltd. is an offshoot of the Electronics Consortium Pvt. Ltd. (ECPL) which was incorporated in 1968 and was taken over by its present promoters in 1977. Starting with the manufacture of black & white television sets, the company has gradually diversified. Today, the company also manufactures colour televisions (beginning 1982),deflection yokes (1989) flyback transformers (1986), speakers (1988). The company is marketing the Panasonic brand of fax machines, printers, Samsung Faxes and Peripherals and is also marketing Hansol colour monitors, cordless phones and S.M.P.S. and U.P.S. systems of world renowned manufacturers under its own brand name.
In the early nineties, SIL set up a unit to manufacture the Panasonic brand of TVs and audio systems in technical collaboration with Matsushita Electronics Industrial Company Limited (MEI), Japan. The unit was halved off into a separate company, Matsushita Television & Audio India LImited (MTAIC) in April 1996, to enable active involvement of MEI in the technical, financial and managerial matters of the Panasonic division. SIL presently holds only 9% of the paid up share capital in MTAIC. Located at Delhi, Noida and Kashipur (U.P.), the company's manufacturing units are manned by over 1300 employees out of which 200 are qualified engineers and professionals. The company is also a Star Export House, exporting televisions as well as other traded merchandise. The company has established its in-house R&D laboratory and integrated the manufacturing lines with the production engineering department, material procurement department and other related activities to provide quality products.Amont the new products, Salora is developing Flat vision colour FBTs for Sony India and is also developing colour FBTs for LG, Sharp, Konka and Videocon. Salora has a total of 24,000 square meters of integrated manufacturing facility, and in just over two decades has established a base of over two million satisfied customers.
